Autism Victoria Board Members

I am delighted to inform you that we have been successful in the recent election of Board members for the coming year.

It is very pleasing to advise that all three Board members seeking re-election have been successful and I am pleased to advise that the following Board members have been re-elected.

  • Prof. Bruce Tonge
  • Mr. Dennis Crowley
  • Mr. Peter Heard

I am also delighted to announce that the members have elected two new Board members.  These Board members are:

  • Ms. Elizabeth Renn

  • Ms. Ursula Smith

On behalf of all staff, Board members, and members we welcome back the previous Board members and give a warm welcome to the new Board members.

The staff and members look forward to working with all parties during this next 12 month period.

Free Movie Tickets - Bran Nue Dae

Little Dreamers, a support group for siblings of children with illnesses and for young people caring for their parents, has given Autism Victoria 50 free passes to a preview showing of the movie Bran Nue Dae which will be showing at 11am on Sunday 6th December at the Jam Factory in South Yarra.

These passes will be available on a first-come-first-served basis. Just pick up a ticket at the Autism Victoria Office – 24 Drummond St, Carlton! We are also open this Saturday 9am - 2pm, and tickets can be collected at this time.

Bran Nue Dae is an Australian movie featuring some great Australian actors, including Geoffrey Rush, Ernie Dingo, Magda Szubanski, Missy Higgins, Jessica Mauboy and Deborah Mailman. It is due for cinema release on 14th January 2010. The movie is rated PG, so will not be suitable for young children.

2010 Autism Victoria ASD Conference Update

Staff at Autism Victoria are busy planning for the 2010 ASD Conference to be held in Melbourne on the 5th and 6th of August 2010. The conference will provide a focus on practical strategies for parents and professionals and will cover issues across the lifespan.

Keep your eye on our website and on the eSpectrum and The Spectrum (our quarterly magazine for members) for further details in the coming months.
